Module Description
|
Tourettes Syndrome (TS) is part of a spectrum of neuro developmental disorders. You will learn about the epidemiology, presentation and clinical cause of TS. Biological data, particularly in relation to genetics will be reviewed. TS is also combined with a variety of other disorders (OCD, ADHD and other developmental disorders) which affect diagnosis, presentation and management. There will also be sessions with a service user and managing challenging behaviour in TS as well as diagnosing development conditions in adulthood.
By the end of the module you should be able to:
- Describe the biological data on TS, and its importance in the brain/mind debate;
- Describe the epidemiology, course and presentation of TS;
- Assess and manage challenging behaviour in TS;
- Manage symptoms in TS;
- Describe the care needs of people with TS, and available services.
