The 2011/12 Key Health Data Report has been produced by the University of Birmingham's Department of Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics with contributions from the West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit, the Health Protection Agency West Midlands, the Perinatal Institute, NHS Staffordshire, NHS Stoke-on-Trent, NHS Warwickshire and Warwickshire County Council.
The philosophy behind the data set is the production of reliable health and health care information for health care planning and for the wider planning of public sector activities which impinge on health. We have tried to provide locally relevant information at a useful level of disaggregation.
This year’s KHD report features chapters on:
- The new health geographies
- Health Protection Agency updates on infectious diseases
- Perinatal Institute maternity Key Performance Indicators and trends in stillbirths
- Mental well-being in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent
- Measuring inequalities in small area life expectancy
- Approaches to tuberculosis case ascertainment and management
- New presentation techniques for maps and trends
