Improving our health by translating research evidence into local NHS practice

building our Capacity

CLAHRC for Birmingham & Black Country personnel have responsibility for mentoring staff employed by the grant to develop human potential at all levels. For example:

-     The Theme Management Groups will ensure that staff appraisal takes place each year. They will also ensure that they make regular presentations on their work and become involved with grant writing.

-     The Programme Management Committee will monitor the performance of Theme Management Groups.

-     The Programme Steering Committee will advise on the progress and receive the Director’s report on staff development and personnel development.

In addition, mechanisms will be put in place to inspire partners to generate proposals for further funding, firstly to expand activity beyond the funding envelope for the CLAHRC and secondly to ‘immortalise’ the partnership and exploit the capacity that will be generated into the long term.
